Briony is our 2022 Club Champion!

Our annual club championships were held at Marriott’s Gym, with five individual competitions being strongly contested and a range of individual trophies to be awarded. The results are detailed below:
 

Development Squad competition - 1st: Emily Durmus, 2nd: Brooke Sofokleous-Ames, 3rd: Amelia Horvat,
4th: Olivia Ali-Christoforou, 5th: Nia Brown, 6th: Laci Demetriou, 7th: Aurora Farath Grolla

 

Zinc 8/9 competition - 1st: Ellie Shamshoom 2nd: Maisie Sinclair, 3rd: Ava Thomas, 4th: Beau Irish-Barker


Zinc 10+ competition - 1st: Zahraa Khaled, 2nd: Lucie Day, 3rd: Maisie Clay, 4th: Elsie Demetriou


Copper 11/12 competition - 1st: Beth Stanyer, 2nd: Daisy Mehmet, 3rd: Julia Ruszelak, 4th: Sophie Turner, 5th: Kacie Coats

Well done to all the gymnasts who competed and gave the spectators such a great competition to watch!

Medals for Sophie at Regional finals

On Sunday 30th October, Sophie went to Ipswich to compete in the Eastern region finals in the Zinc 11+ competition. 

Sophie took the competition in her stride showing another set of clean routines against tough competition. 

She picked up gold medals for vault and floor, a silver medal on beam and narrowly missed out on an all-around medal finishing in 4th place.

Well done Sophie we are really proud of you!

Zinc Team County Champions!

On Sunday 23rd October, we had 2 teams competing at the Zinc level Hertfordshire Team Championships.

Both teams performed extremely well, with Turnford Team 1 coming 1st overall and being crowned County Team Champions! Our Turnford 2 team finished in 4th place.
 

Turnford 1: Sophie Turner, Kacie Coats, Lucie Day and Daisy Mehmet.

Turnford 2: Maisie Clay, Ava Thomas, Elsie Demetriou and Beau Irish-Baker.

 

Well done girls, we’re so proud of all of you!

Copper County Teams

On Sunday 9th October, we had a team competing in the Copper level Hertfordshire Team Championships.


Our team performed extremely well, with clean routines in a very tough competition, finishing 4th place overall.


Team: Sadie Shand, Briony McDonagh, Julia Ruszelak and Laci Townley.

Sophie is Zinc County Champion!

On Sunday 25th September 2022, we had gymnasts competing at levels Zinc & Copper level at the Hertfordshire County Championships. All our gymnasts performed brilliantly with notable success to Sophie who was crowned Zinc (11+) County champion and received the Ann Hall Cup for the highest floor score of the day at Zinc level.

We also picked up several apparatus ribbons – Zinc (8): Ava 3rd on Beam. Zinc (11+): Daisy 2nd on bars, Beth 3rd on bars, Kacie 3rd on vault and floor and Sophie 2nd on vault, 1st on beam and floor. Copper (12+): Briony 2nd on vault and Laci 3rd on vault and 2nd on beam.

Age 8: Ava Thomas

Age 9/10: Beau Irish-Baker, Ellie Shamshoom, Elsie Demetriou and Lucie Day.

Age 11+: Daisy Mehmet, Beth Stanyer, Sophie Turner, Kacie Coats and Maise Clay.

Copper

Age 10/11: Julia Ruszelak.

Age 12+: Sadie Shand, Briony McDonagh and Laci Townley.

County Steel Competition

On Sunday the 18th September Maisie competed at Steel level at the Hertfordshire County Championships.


Maise had a great competition, showing good routines a gaining lots of experience for the future.

Regional Grade finals

On Sunday the 8th May Laci and Briony went to Ipswich to represent Hertfordshire in the 14+ age group for Grade 2 in the regional finals. 

 

Both girls competed well in a very strong competition.

Bronze for Laci at Regional Grade 2

Well done to all our gymnasts who passed their Regional Grades on Sunday 10th April 2022 at Marriott’s Gymnastics Centre, Stevenage. 

Special congratulations to Laci who came 3rd overall at grade 2 in the 14+ age group and will go to Regional Finals to represent Hertfordshire on Sunday 8th May 2022.

Grade 4: Julia Ruszelak (Distinction), Sophie Turner and Beth Stanyer (Commendation). 

Grade 3: Sadie Shand (Commendation). 

Grade 2: Laci Townley and Briony McDonagh (Commendation).

Maisie is Herts Grade 4 Champion

Congratulations to Ava and Maise who passed their Hertfordshire Grades on Sunday 20th March 2022.

Strong performances resulted in them easily passing their grades, with Maise achieving the highest overall score to become Herts Grade 4 Champion.
