Jas is our 2021 Club Champion!
Our annual club championships were held at Harlow’s Gym, with eight individual competitions being strongly contested and a range of individual trophies to be awarded. The results are detailed below:
Juniors 9+ – 1st: Amaziah Owusu-Banahene. 2nd: Maisie Clay.
Senior Squad Beginners – 1st: Ava Thomas. 2nd: Maisie Sinclair.
Senior Squad HGA’s – 1st: Elsie Demetriou. 2nd: Beau Irish-Barker & Lexi-Mai Allen. 3rd: Ellie Shamshoom.
Zinc 9/10 – 1st: Daisy Mehmet. 2nd: Lucie Day.
Zinc 11+ – 1st: Beth Stanyer. 2nd: Kacie Coats. 3rd: Zahraa Khaled.
Copper 10/11 – 1st: Julia Ruszelak.
Copper 12+ – 1st: Laci Townley. 2nd: Sadie Shand. 3rd: Briony McDonagh.
Bronze 13+ – 1st: Jasmine Lethbridge. 2nd: Ella Watson.

Shield for Determination & Personal Achievement: Beth Stanyer
This competition was also Jasmine, Ella and Abigail’s final competition, deciding to retire after long and successful careers as a Turnford gymnasts.
Well done to all the gymnasts who competed and gave the spectators such a great competition to watch!

Hertfordshire Grades!
Congratulations to all the girls who passed their Hertfordshire Grades on Sunday 5th December 2021
Strong performances from all our girls resulted in them easily passing their grades.
There was notable success from Maisie at Grade 1 winning the trophy for the highest Bars score and Ava winning the trophies for highest vault, beam and floor scores and the highest overall score to become Herts Grade 1 Champion. At Grade 3 Elsie had the highest overall score to become Herts Grade 3 Champion.

Grade 4: Lexi-Mai Allen, Elsie Demetriou, Ellie Shamshoom and Beau Irish Barker.

Last County Champs for Ella & Jas
On Sunday 21st November 2021, Ella and Jas competed in the Hertfordshire County Bronze Championships in the 13+ age group. Both girls performed well in a tough competition, with Jasmine picking up 3rd place apparatus ribbons on bars and beam, and Ella picking up 3rd place apparatus ribbons on vault and floor.
This was the girls last county competition before retiring at the end of the year.

Kacie wins Beam silver at
Regional Finals
On Sunday 14th November 2021, Julia and Kacie went to Ipswich to represent Hertfordshire at Regional finals for Copper and Zinc levels.
Both girls competed well in very tough competitions, Julia (Copper 10/11 age group) and Kacie (Zinc 11+), with notable success for Kacie winning a silver apparatus medal after a brilliant, confident beam routine.

Silver for Julia at Copper County Championships
On Sunday 17th October 2021, we had gymnasts competing at levels Zinc & Copper level at the Hertfordshire County Championships. This was the first competition back after a long lockdown period and the girls performed brilliantly after such a long time out of the gym.
Zinc
Age 9-10: Sophie Turner, Daisy Mehmet, Lucie Day & Lexi Sofokleous-Ames.
Age 11+: Beth Stanyer, Kacie Coats & Zahraa Khaled
Copper
Age 10/11: Julia Ruszelak.
Age 12+: Briony McDonagh, Laci Townley & Sadie Shand.
All the girls competed well in tough competitions, with some success picking up ribbons for places on apparatus in their respective age groups and Julia coming 2nd overall in her Copper age group.
Zinc: Sophie came 3rd on vault and Lexi came 3rd on floor in the 9-10 yrs. age group. Beth came 3rd on vault and beam, and Kacie came 2nd on beam and 3rd on floor in the 12+ age group.
Level 5: Julia came 1st on vault, bars and floor in the 10/11 yrs. age group. Briony came 1st on beam and Laci 1st on vault in the 12+ yrs. Age group.

Congratulations to all the girls who passed their Hertfordshire Grades on Sunday 8th March 2020.
Strong performances from all our girls resulted in them easily passing their grades.
There was notable success from Lexi-Mai at Grade 1 winning the trophy for the highest Bars score and for Lexi at Grade 3 with the highest overall score to become Herts Grade 3 Champion.
